Q&A: Is Suntrust Bank a decent bank to have your mortgage with?

Question by VirtueOfIntolerance: Is Suntrust Bank a decent bank to have your mortgage with?
I’m looking at a refinance, but I really like my current bank. I don’t want to end up with a lender that is a pain. I know that the bank can change, but I just want to find out if anyone else has a mortgage with Suntrust.

Everyone that I see who comes in seems pretty pleased with their SunTrust Mortgage. There is also a program that can be set up where your payments can draft automatically. And, I’m not sure if this is in all areas, but in mine if you also open a checking account with the mortgage, you receive a $ 250 credit on your next payment when the draft is set up with that SunTrust account. The account is a premium account that allows you free standard checks, money orders, official checks, and travelers cheques. The account usually requires a minimum balance, but because your mortgage is connected to it, there isn’t a fee for the account.

Because it’s just not practical for every branch to have a Mortgage rep, every few SunTrust branches share a rep. Just go inside the branch and ask for an appointment. They will either take your information and have the rep call you, or they should have the rep’s business card on hand and you can call them.
