Why do all those mortgage refinance ads include videos of women doing aerobics or tummy crunches?

Question by Alec the Dalek: Why do all those mortgage refinance ads include videos of women doing aerobics or tummy crunches?
Home values = toned abs? And I thought *I* was surreal….

Best answer:

Answer by 1thousand is super fantastic
Do they really? That is odd. But women doing aerobics could pretty much sell anything.
Once I was watching a sippy cup ad but I swear they were trying to sell the car and not the sippy cup.
The sippy cup interest was not for me. I’m allowed to use cups and glasses etc..

I know what you’re talking about. They remind me of those Mentos commercials from the 90’s……weird, a little off, and not really product-centric.

You’re missing the subliminal message, that when it’s crunch time, you take out a second mortgage. They’re basically trying to say, “Don’t sweat it, just refinance.”

They’re probably made by the same ad agency that came up with the idea that advertising for women’s sanitary products should include images of women doing ballet, gymnastics, skiing in white pants or the thousand-and-one other energetic things we choose to do during our favourite days of the month.

Apparently, when people take out loans, they’re actually thinking about sex.

EDIT: this is funny because I KNOW you’ve done it.

Because they know men will pay attention…
