Question by B: can a property be mortgaged without grantee knowledge if there is a life estate deed?
Mother has Deed of Life Estate. Family member refinanced property without her knowledge. Is this legal? She is not on the mortgage but does have a recorded deed of life estate.

The Trustee of the estate can do it. You need to discuss how the trust is set up.
