Question by Mark: tax question – refinanced my mortgage with a different lender. i paid a point on original refinance?
about 2700 dollars. when i refinanced again with a different lender i didnt pay any points.
can i write off the balance of unamortized points on my tax return from my original refi? if so, would this be spread out over a period of time or as one lump sum? thanks in advance for any help.

There is an issue if you refinance with the same lender. You say you didn’t, so any remaining points can be deducted this year.
